Quick update
The Biggest Loser is on, so this has to be fast. I think I mentioned in my previous blog that my little weight loss group at work decided to do a 6-week challenge... where she who lost the greatest percentage of weight over 6 weeks wins... we all put in money and the winner will get $150... how sweet would that be?!? Anyways, I was getting really bummed about it because I've been putting forth full effort these last few months with working out and eating better, and I feel that most other people were just kind of sliding along and not really doing anything. So, what happens the first two week? Everyone else was losing and I was pretty much at a plateau... lost .6 then 1.2. I was not happy. This last week my working out wasn't good... was having breathing problems when trying to run... just... bad. AND... it was the Superbowl (which, by the way, I'm totally stoked the Patriots lost!!!) and I was not a good girl... ate lots of dessert... chips and dip... a few drinks... and didn't care. WELL... hopped on the scale this morning for my weekly weigh-in... down 3.2 more pounds!!! So... does that mean I need to eat like crap all the time? ;-) Right now, I'm in the lead... everyone else gained this last week... I'm ahead by about 1 percentage point... which isn't much... BUT... I'm still winning. Momma needs some new clothes!!!! Haha! Wish me luck!

Updates
I think a majority of my blog titles are updates... I know... I've been slacking. I've been busy lately... not sure with what though... just haven't been around much to update. But, since today is freakin' cold in Chicagoland, I've been spending most of the day here inside my apartment and figured I should finally update my blog... haha!
So, the last blog was before New Year's... so I guess I'll start there. I had a little New Year's gathering at my apartment... there were 6 of us... there were supposed to be a few more, but the weather was pretty bad that night, some people were sick, and some decided to go into the city instead. We all had a good time. I made sangria... which was REALLY good... but then made me produce some "word vomit" later in the evening. Basically, I guess I became a little overly sensitive and emotional and said things that I was feeling about a certain person that should never have been said. At least thing between us haven't changed... at least not for the worse. I will leave the explanation at that.
I hung out with Nancy (a friend and roomie from undergrad) about a week and a half ago. I went to her place for dinner while her husband was out of town. It was nice to be able to talk and bond just the two of us... we haven't been able to do that since I've moved back. I ended up staying at her place until almost 11 (which is late for me... I'm usually in bed between 9 and 10 on the weeknights)... and was REALLY late considering I had a friend over that Tuesday night until 11, was out on a girls night on Wednesday night until nearly 11, and then at Nancy's on Thursday until nearly 11... it was some late nights in a row! Last Saturday night I went and saw my friend Sandy's band Track a Tiger at Schuba's downtown Chicago. There were a bunch of us there from work... some people weren't able to get in because the show sold out! Kudos to the band! They rocked... of course... I've been to several of their shows and they've all been really good... I think I'm becoming a groupie. My friend Megan who lives in Wrigleyville came with me... I hadn't seen her since early October so it was good to hang out with here again.
This last week I've been taking it easy... well, at least with the going out. I've decided that if I'm really going to do the Shamrock Shuffle (which, by the way, yes, I'm signed up for... did that on New Years!), I need to get a bit more serious about my training. So, I've followed Bethie's example and have been logging my runs on Runners World and have even developed a training schedule on there. So here's the update on my running and weight loss... currently, I'm down 15 pounds since I started the whole thing. I'm proud of that, but need to keep going... haha! As for the running... I started running a consistent mile about two weeks ago... hit a 1.5 mile on January 15th (which was the deadline that Patrick and Tina had set for me)... 1.75 mile on January 17th... and today I ran 2.5 miles without stopping!!! (And then another mile later... so of my 5 mile run I had to do today, I did 3.5 miles.) So... I'm halfway to my 5 miles that I have to be able to run. The miles are starting to come a bit faster now, which is good. I figure that after I have my mileage, then I can start speeding things up (I'm only running at 4.5 to 5 mph because otherwise I can't sustain it because of my breathing). And... at the beginning of next month I'm going to have to start running outside more. I did a few weeks ago when it was in the 60's (I ran outside for 3 days straight)... but since it's about -3 degrees outside right now, I'm going to pass!
I guess that's the update for now. I will try really hard and be better about updating... but you all know how that goes with me!

Yes... I realize I stink and haven't blogged in forever... life has been a little hectic lately... and too much to go in to. So... here's the brief update to tide all of you over...
Currently, I'm down 11 pounds... I'll re-weigh myself tomorrow. The scale at the gym says I'm down 15, but I don't believe it. Haha! Also... speaking of the gym and working out... I FINALLY was able to run my first mile straight without stopping last
friday... but have as of this time been unable to duplicate it. Which, yes, makes me quite a bit nervous since I have to run 5 miles at the end of March for the Shamrock... YIKES!!! Patrick gave me a "pep talk" about it last night... it was a bit intense... I'm really realizing that running is 99% mental and only about 1% physical... and the mental part sucks!!!
Our work Christmas party was a few weeks ago... it was a blast... we boogied down on the dance floor. Here's some pics...

Me and Tina starting the night off looking cute.

Me, Patrick, and Tina. You know... if any other guy was standing in between two hot chics, they'd be smiling... hmmm...

Tina, Nicole, and myself.

Tina and I again... with Michael giving us bunny ears. Didn't we do that when we were in, like, elementary school?

Peggy, me, Jen, Tina, and Nicole. Jen FINALLY showed up after dinner... about 2.5 hours after the party had started!
Let's see... what else... Christmas was nice. Matthew came back home for a few days for Christmas from Florida... we scared the crap out of mom because she didn't know he was coming back... it was a total surprise. It was pretty cool. I wish he could have stayed longer, but I need to be thankful for the time I have with him.
Again, like I said, this was a brief overview. I'll try and be better about posting in the coming year. I'm having a New Year's party at my place tomorrow night... so maybe that will be a good way to start, eh? I'LL TRY!!!

Worst pick-up lines, ww update, and other randomness...
Yes, I realize I haven't posted in over a week... it's been super busy around here and I've had something to do every night after work and just haven't had time. So here it is 730 on a Saturday morning and I'm updating... sad, eh?
Last Saturday night Nancy (one of my roommates and friends from undergrad) had a house-warming party as her and her husband just moved in to a new house, which happens to be near me! (I know... I need to make more of an effort to get my butt over there!) There were quite a few people there from undergrad... that I haven't seen since we graduated (or maybe the summer afterwards)... so for over 6 years. It was weird... but great to see them all and talk about all our memories. And I'd like to thank them all for reminding me of the worst pickup lines ever that I had suppressed in my memory. Ready for it?
"Your cheeks are so cold, but your lips are so warm."
Yes... that is the worst pickup line (or just statement) ever... I don't even want to comment any more on that situation... because it kind of churns my stomach... haha
Monday night... another weigh-in for our weight-loss group. I lost another... 2.4 pounds!!! That brings my weight-loss total for 2 weeks to 6 pounds (for those of you that are counting). Because of my busy week I haven't made it to the gym as much as I would have liked and haven't been counting points... so hopefully the weight is still coming off this week! After my group I went out to dinner with the girls for a little girls night to celebrate Patty's new job. Red Lobster... yummy! And yes, I actually had some lobster... it was SOOO good... and it's been a while since I've had lobster. The rest of the meal was pretty healthy... shrimp, rice, and veggies... not too bad.
Tuesday night... eye doctor appointment... everything's fine. It was the longest eye doctor appointment EVER. There was a point that I got a little freaked out... my right eye failed the glaucoma test so they had to re-do it... it's fine... it just wasn't lubricated enough the first time. After the eye doctor I went to The Little Owl where my sister Lindsey works and just chilled and had dinner.... it was nice having some company for dinner.
Wednesday night... did something but can't remember... hmm... will have to think about that one...
Thursday night... went out with some people from work (Tina, Paul, and Patrick) and some of Paul's friends. I'm just going to say it was a wild and crazy night... if I say more I might incriminate myself and I don't need to do that... so I might just leave it at that. I didn't really sleep hardly at all... and work on Friday was EXTREMELY difficult... and no, not hungover... just VERY tired... but I made it and didn't call in sick like someone else did... haha!
So those are the basic updates for now... I know this post didn't really "flow", but I had a bit to catch up on and didn't want to get another post from Katie saying she was going to protest my blog if I didn't post!
And now... I'm off to the gym... woohoo! (I'm still sore from the lunges and squats from Thursday... grrr...)

I broke 100!!!
Yes, it doesn't happen very often, but I broke 100 at bowling... 107 to be exact. Six of us from work went bowling after work to let off some steam... we're going to try and make it a monthly thing. Of course, even with my 107 that I'm oh so proud of, I still came in last place... go figure!
And... yes, I did get up this morning to work out... (for those that are counting, that's 6 days in a row... with twice a day on Monday (for arms) and Tuesday (for legs)... and today if you count bowling)... I freakin' rock... haha! I was asked by Bethie what is my secret to getting up at the butt-crack of dawn... I did it at the time change so I was used to getting up at 6... which is now 5... so far, it's working... although, I'm in bed by 9!!!

the gym
I had an AWESOME workout tonight... didn't go this morning because I didn't sleep well last night (first, cramps (ugh, being a girl), then, terrible scary dream), so I was WAY too tired to go this morning. But great workout after work (which doesn't normally happen). Went 6K (ran a mile of it)... and felt GREAT! I hate sweating... but tonight was one of the few times it felt good!
A bunch of us from work are going bowling after work tomorrow, so I have to be sure to get up at 5 tomorrow morning to go to the gym... wish me luck!

Weight Watchers
So... I'm updating today because Katie threatened to protest my blog... can't have that happening!!! Even though I don't think there's much to update on... here's the news...
A few weeks (or months) ago at work we decided we'd have a "weight watchers at work" thing... only problem... the lady that came out was a total "b"... and we didn't have the 15 people that were required for her to keep coming out (we had 13)... which may have been a blessing in disguise. So one of the ladies has done Weight Watchers before and said, "Why don't we just do our own? I have all the things and I'd be glad to share all my info..." So, last Monday we had our first "meeting." Basically, we're just meeting on Monday's after work to weigh in and discuss how we're doing with our weight-loss goals and support each other... etc. We had our second meeting tonight. I was kind of nervous with the weigh-in (especially with Halloween last week... there's been soooooo much candy around!)... but... (wait for it... wait for it...) I LOST 3.6 POUNDS!!!!! I am EXTREMELY proud of myself... hopefully this trend will continue!
On the weight-loss note... I've also decided to start "running." We all know I'm not a runner (look at me!)... but... I'm going to give it a shot. I have a goal of running the Shamrock Shuffle next March downtown Chicago (I think it's an 8K). I have a ways to go, but it's better I start training now rather than a month before and then not be able to do it. So... now that you all know my goal, I guess I have to do it! Right now I'm only able to run a quarter mile and then walk a quarter to a half mile then back to running a quarter mile... etc... I run either 3/4 of a mile or mile. I know it's not much... but it's a start!
Oh yeah... on more thing... I've been to the gym the last 3 days (even got up at 445 this am to be at the gym at 5)... did a 5K each day (with the run/walk thing)... and went BACK to the gym tonight to lift! I ROCK!!!
So that's the update... wish me lots of luck with the loosing weight thing... prayers and support are also appreciated!!!
