The weight loss thing is going... I'm down 21.5 pounds so far... I'll weigh in tomorrow. We decided that we'd continue the "6-week challenge" for another 4 weeks until one of the ladies in our group gets back from Africa. So, now it's a 10-week challenge. Thus far on the challenge I've lost 6.8 pounds. I've had a hard time being motivated these last couple of weeks to work out. The weather has really been bumming me out... I was hoping by now it would be warmer and sunnier so that I could run outside, and it hasn't been. I usually love winter, but this year it has been crazy! I never thought I'd say that I was tired of the snow... but when it snows in February 22 of 29 days, it's excessive! Although... I was FINALLY able to run a 5K without stopping (that's 3.11 miles)... it was slow... 12:40 min/mile, but not terrible. AND... was I able to run outside today since it was MUCH nicer... 2 miles at 10:45 pace... so, I apparently run faster outside and need to push myself on the treadmill I guess! For those that are keeping track, there are only 4 weeks until the Shamrock Shuffle... yikes!
Tuesday night I went to the Bon Jovi concert with some Tina, Patrick, and Greg... it was AWESOME!!! Bon Jovi totally rocked the United Center... the highlights were probably Daughtry singing "Blaze of Glory" with Bon Jovi... and "Livin' On A Prayer"... hearing the whole stadium belt out the song without any accompaniment from the band gave me chills.
Here are some pics from the ride there... we took a limo... the story is below...

We took a limo to the concert... my mom hooked us up... she has a contact at one of the local limo companies for her job and got us a stretch and arranged for us to have the same driver both ways so we could leave all our things in the car and not pay for the waiting fee. AND... the driver was hot. Haha... doesn't that always make it better? So, pretty much the whole way home from the concert I was hitting on him... he's my age (28), from Bulgaria, so he's got the accent thing going for him, a nice guy... and did I mention that he's hot??? SO, I invited him up to my apartment with all of us when we got back since we were his last run of the night... had exchanged numbers since I had to call him from the concert when we were done (yes, on his personal cell phone)... and have since been in touch a little bit. We're supposed to have coffee or a drink sometime in the next week... keep your fingers crossed! I need a date!!! (And no, I didn't get a picture of him... I know... I'm a moron!)
I guess that's about it for the updates. Like I said, nothing really new has been happening... just busy at work and trying to be motivated to work out! If anyone has any tips to help motivate me, I'd appreciate it... and... prayers are needed for the Shuffle!!!

YAY for the update! 2nd good job on losing weight, what are some of your tips for me! I have weight to lose! Also, wahoo for the hot bulgarian..and I am NOT going to tell luke that you went to Bon Jovi(although U2 is his favorite he would love the B.J. concert) Keep the updates going!
Ok, so yes, I keep commenting on your blog, but I just found this marathon thing and thought you might enjoy it!! How is it going anyway? http://www.saltlakerunningco.com/assets/25week2008web.htm
Let me know what you think of the website. OH, and I am thinking about running a marathon..ok, maybe not, but at least getting to the point where i could possibly run one. Oh well, whatever!
First of all it's ok to be slow. It's even ok to walk (says me!). For longer runs I average in the 11:00s or 12:00s. Second, I hate the treadmill, so I opt for the ellptical. However, unless I'm sore, or my athsma is acting up, I'm always faster on land. Finally, as for motivation, fear is my number one motivator. Fear of a lack of preperation. My other motivation is routine. I always go to the gym after work. Because I know if I go home first, I just am not motivated to go back out. For my longer runs, I signed up to join a running group. The act of signing up and paying money makes me get there. Besides, it's easier to run with the same group of people week after week. If you want a running buddy, you can always join a group. There are clubs and running stores that sponsor fun runs in your area. Or you can call your Bethie, I hear she likes to run! :)
If you're bummed about feeling slow, check out John Bingham's web page. He has a monthly column in Runner's World. He is known as the Penguin. You'll see why. His philosophy is on my exercise blog: "The miracle isn't that I finished. The miracle is that I had the courage to start."
Congrats on the weight loss! I'm so proud of you. I wish I had your motivation! Seriously, I think I'm the only person in the world who gains weight while training for a marathon! If you're interested in other races, let me know, I'll sign up! There's a couple of good ones this spring that I either want to try or have run and know they are a good run!
I would also like some updates on the limo guy! (Shame on you for no pictures!!!)
